In this beginner level class you will learn about the cold-process method for making soap. We will first cover safety essentials when working with Lye. Cold Process Soap is made with all natural lye combined with water and fats to go through a chemical reaction called saponification.

In this beginner level class you will learn about the cold-process method for making soap. We will first cover safety essentials when working with Lye. Cold Process Soap is made with all natural lye combined with water and fats to go through a chemical reaction called saponification. We will discuss the use of additives, properties of oils & butters as well as covering fragrance & essential oils. Â We will touch upon some of the other soap making processes as well as discussing "to gel or not to gel" in the Cold Process technique.Â
The use of molds/types of molds will be discussed as well as curing, packaging and minor design techniques. Each participant will receive a bar of soap and an e-mail packet with the class materials and helpful online resources  for learning and supplies.Â
Please bring the following to class:
- Wear or bring a long sleeved shirt
- Eye Protection
- Rubber Gloves
- Apron (optional)
